Holy Friday (In the U.S. this day is called “Good’ Friday”…here in Burkina… “Holy” Friday)
Mark 14 sees Jesus betrayed. And Arrested. Jesus before His accusers. Peter’s Denials.
Mark 15 presents Jesus before Pilate. Jesus mocked. Jesus Crucified. FORSAKEN BY His Father.
Mark 15:33 “And when the sixth hour had come, darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “ELOI, ELOI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?” which is translated, “MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME?”
Dare we consider the possibility that being betrayed and denied and abandoned by those He called “Friend” inflicted much more pain to our Savior’s heart and spirit than the physical and verbal abuse spewed and inflicted by His enemies?
