Mark 11:27-33; Mark 12: 1-9

The chief priests, and scribes, and elders, approached Jesus and questioned His authority to speak and teach. They were the religious leaders of His day. They trusted their traditions and their knowledge rather than trusting in Christ and His words about the Heavenly Father. They became angry when Jesus told them the parable of the vine-growers. He looked at them and had a question of His own for them, “Have you not even read this Scripture: ‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE; THIS CAME FROM THE LORD AND IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR EYES.” …And they desired to seize Him… (12:10,11)

Tradition is a powerful influence. Misdirected knowledge and intelligence can be dangerous as well. The religious leaders of the day were face to face with the Savior of the world and did not recognize Him as the Promised Messiah! DO we???
